ING Real Estate Development Belgium has won the competition written out by the city of Maaseik for the site 'Kloosterbempden'. The proposal is to create a strategic project in order to regenerate the innercity shopping of this historic town.
Besides the development of an underground public parking, which contains 416 parking places, the ancient 19th century city wall are reconstructed in a modern way.
A program of 11 retail warehouses and 4 dwellings consisting of 42 apartments were constructed. The construction has started in april 2005. All retail units were prelet and sold before opening. All residential units are sold. Retail and public parking opened on 15/05/2006. The apartments were completed at the end of 2006.
